My First Flight – Trial Introductory Flight

My First Flight – Trial Introductory Flight

On the 8th of December 2024, I experienced something I’ll never forget — my very first flight in a Trial Introductory Flight (TIF) out of Parafield Airport.

We departed from Parafield and headed north, flying over St Kilda and into the Lower Light training area. For less than an hour, I had the chance to see the world from a whole new perspective, one that only flying can provide. The coastline, the fields, and the sky itself all seemed so much bigger, yet so peaceful at the same time.

What surprised me most was how much time I spent actually flying. Honestly, I didn’t expect to be in command for as much as I was. I thought I’d just try a single turn and that would be it. But instead, I flew the majority of the flight - everything except for takeoff and landing, of course! The moment I wrapped my hands around the controls, it all felt natural and exciting.

That first flight opened a new door in my life and confirmed what I’ve always felt deep down: flying is my dream. It was more than just an introduction — it was the beginning of something big.

Through NathanAviation, I hope to share that same passion with others, while building something that supports my training and milestones ahead.
